Despite his modern profession, he’s passionate about agriculture, but he’s moved away from traditional methods. Instead, he’s adopted modern approaches and is successfully cultivating saffron using hydroponics. Previously, he grew strawberries and vegetables in an aeroponic system and has now extended this method to saffron cultivation.

As part of a new venture, I’m cultivating saffron in shipping containers. Using hydroponic techniques, we are growing this precious spice without the need for vast expanses of soil. Starting with strawberries and vegetables, we are now cultivating saffron. I’ve invested 10 million rupees into this endeavor, and it’s a long-term investment. I encourage farmers to shift their focus from conventional methods and invest in modern techniques. From Kashmir, bring in the seeds. Utilizing aeroponic technology on a 160 square meter area, we are cultivating saffron with great success,” says Shailesh Modak.
The aeroponic method involves using small misters to spray a nutrient-rich solution onto the roots of the plants. This promotes healthy growth and ensures the crops receive the necessary nutrients. By employing aeroponics, farmers can achieve higher yields in less space and time. This innovative technique is gaining popularity in many countries, including ours. Many young farmers are now embracing aeroponics, achieving significant profits.
