Empowering Farmers: The Bihar government has launched a helpful plan to aid farmers in growing their agricultural businesses. This initiative intends to boost the farming sector and raise farmers’ income. By providing subsidies of 50 to 75 percent, the government is encouraging the opening of cold storage units.
Farmers should seize this chance and apply quickly to expand their ventures. The Integrated Horticulture Development Mission scheme is at the core of this effort. It offers up to 50 percent subsidies for individual farmers and entrepreneurs and up to 75 percent for groups like FPOs and FPCs on the cost of setting up a cold storage unit (Type-2).

The maximum cost of creating a Type-2 cold storage unit per metric ton is Rs 10,000. Subsidies amount to Rs 5,000 for individual farmers and Rs 7,500 for groups. To apply, farmers need certain documents like land ownership papers, bank sanction letters, and identification cards.
Applying is easy, and farmers can visit the official horticulture department website or their district’s horticulture office. The scheme’s goal is to make sure farmers get fair prices for their produce and support their progress by offering subsidized equipment.
This initiative is a great opportunity for Bihar’s farmers to improve their livelihoods by expanding their businesses through cold storage units. It’s anticipated that this move will aid the agricultural sector’s growth in the state and enhance farmers’ lives. Similar schemes have been introduced in other states too.
